Dan Bowers, PRESIDENT,
joined Allied Arts in November 2007. Dan served the United Way of Greater Chattanooga for 13 years, first as Campaign Director and ultimately as President. He left the United Way to become President of the Memorial Health Care System Foundation, where he served for six years, then departed to form his own fundraising consulting firm. He holds B.A. and Master’s degrees in Communications from the University of Alabama.
MARILYN J. HARRISON, VICE PRESIDENT,
joined Allied Arts in November, 2000, after serving for seventeen years as director and Vice President of United Arts, Raleigh, North Carolina. She is responsible for day to day operations and for managing all grant processes at Allied Arts, including General Operating Support and Arts Build Communities.
RODNEY VAN VALKENBURG, DIRECTOR OF ARTS EDUCATION,
joined Allied Arts in May, 2001, after serving for more than 18 years with the Chattanooga Theatre Centre as Director of Programs and as Director of Education. Rodney holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Child Drama from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 1992, he was named Youth Theatre Director of the Year by the American Alliance for Theatre in Education and received the Distinguished Achievement Award by the Tennessee Theatre Association.
Alex Harwell, Campaign Director,
joined Allied Arts in July 2007 after working in development at the Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, N.J. He holds a B.A. in History, with a minor in French, from the University of the South at Sewanee and a Master’s in Museum Studies from Seton Hall University. Alex is responsible for coordinating annual campaign activities and outreach to individual and corporate donors, as well as providing development support to Allied Arts’ President.
FLETCHER SIMS,
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER ,
joined Allied Arts April 1, 1997. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee in Business Administration. He is responsible for reporting and maintaining all financial activities at Allied Arts.
