Programs
Arts Build Communities: Allied Arts makes as many as 25 grants a year for a wide variety of short-term arts projects. Examples of past grants include "Bridges", a collaborative literature-based visual arts project with the Creative Discovery Museum and Senior Neighbors, artist fees for the St. Elmo Festival, and the Chattanooga Theatre Centre for acting classes for teens with Down Syndrome.
Arts Education
Arts Education: Allied Arts has a commitment to make the arts a part of the education of every child in Hamilton County. Allied Arts is an agent for the Tennessee Arts Commission's Ticket and Transportation Subsidy program which enables thousands of students to attend cultural field trips. Our Artist in Residence Program places working artists in the classroom. Our Arts Alliance and initiative School programs assist students with meeting fine arts standards and to develop and to showcase best practices in arts instruction. The Arts Initiative Schools are entering their fifth year in the program and include three schools that are funded $35,000-50,000 each year. The Arts Alliance program includes nine schools and is entering its second year. These schools have been funded between $6,000-12,000 for the current year. The Arts Initiative and Alliance schools represent inner city, rural, and suburban areas of the county. The participating schools in these programs were selected through a competitive selection process.
