THE FOREIGNER
by Larry Shue
May 23rd - June 15th, 2008
Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 pm
Sundays at 2:00 pm
Larry Shue's attention to detail and sharp wit make this play a laugh a minute and provoke your thought in this precise and humorous tale. No one matches the comic wit of Larry Shue. Being an actor himself, his characters are gifts to the actors that play them. Each role is well-honed and a joy to perform. This is truly one of the great American comedies. This is a diverse and side-splitting play. It incorporates many accents and notions as cultures collide in the Deep South . One character even makes up his own dialect and tells an entire story in it! The plot drives off of a cleverly set up situation of mistaken identity.
This hilarious, yet somehow realistic cast of characters takes you through an absurd plot that flows naturally and leaves you wanting more.

From 11 AM to 2 PM, enjoy the Friday Market in Miller Plaza’s Waterhouse Pavilion featuring a variety of items for sale including fresh-picked strawberries, canned goods, homemade candles and jewelry.
The Rhythm & Noon Concert Series continues this week with a FREE performance by singer / songwriter Jeff Miller on the Blue Cross Stage at Miller Plaza from Noon to 1 PM.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Jeff Miller studied Guitar Performance and Songwriting at Boston’s Berklee College of Music and currently lives in Nashville. He has released three solo albums and plays over 150 shows a year. Currently performing as a solo artist, Miller uses a device during his live shows to record and loop guitar and vocal parts, creating more sound than many bands do. Using his voice, guitar, hands and feet, he is able to act as each member of a regular band – a singer, guitarist, bassist, and a drummer.
The Rhythm & Noon concert series is presented by the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership, and is sponsored by Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling, Cornerstone Community Bank, WTCI TV45 and Sunny 92.3. Call 265-0771 or visit www.downtownchattanooga.org for more information.

When a middle-aged, married restaurant owner decides to solve his mid-life crisis by having a romantic fling, three women enter his life and hilarious problems ensue.
Barney knows that his widowed mother does volunteer work in the afternoons, thus her apartment is empty. He proceeds to bring 3 different women to her apartment, with several attempts at seduction, only to realize that affairs are more difficult and complicated than he thought.
Neil Simon’s dialogue is hysterical and his portrayal of the decent fellow (played by John Thomas Cecil) who just can’t succeed in sinning with three women (all played by Jamie B. Farmer) is both funny and tender at the same time. This production is directed and costumed by Tony Smithey.
The original stage play premiered in New York City at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on December 28, 1969. Neil Simon has won numerous awards for his works, which have been adapted to many television and movies, including a Golden Globe and a Pulitzer Prize.
The StoneFort Inn, a luxury 20-room Boutique Hotel, located in the heart of downtown, will showcase a variety of plays and musicals throughout the year without a traditional stage, allowing for an intimate and unique theatrical experience. The Encore Theatre, located on Brainerd Road, is a working live performance theatre providing quality entertainment with flair.
